Speaker Bios:
Perrin Kaplan, Principal, Zebra Partners As former Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Affairs for Nintendo of America Inc., Perrin oversaw many aspects of internationally recognized marketing and public relations programs. She oversaw all public relations, public and government affairs, investor relations, internal communications, international communications and community relations for the global company. She is a well-known spokesperson and has brought great personality to many of her interviews. Before joining Nintendo, Kaplan served as Vice President for The Rockey Company, a nationally recognized Seattle-based public relations and public affairs firm. Prior to that, Kaplan was in journalism with KING Broadcasting, Seattle's NBC affiliate, and managed political communications for the state capitol and several White House campaigns.
Kaplan craves the constant change of new media and creating 'firsts' on how to meld it with traditional marketing.
Kaplan is deeply involved in numerous non-profit and advocacy activities, including animal rescue, and cancer education. She is a jokester, loves to cook and only exercises because she has to.
Jared Nieuwenhuis, Marketing Director, HER Interactive Susan Lusty has worked in consumer technology on both sides (editorial and PR) for 20 years. During this time, she has successfully launched, promoted, and re?positioned many consumer technology companies and their products in both national and international markets. Susan’s expertise lies in strategic thinking, and, being a former editor, she maintains a deep understanding of the media and how to reach them. For the last 10 years, Susan has been an independent PR contractor based in Seattle, WA. Susan has worked with such companies as Electronic Arts Mobile and Online, Red Rocket Games, Apple Computer, Bungie, Electronic Arts Los Angeles, Monolith, InfoSeek, Tapwave, Capital Entertainment Group, Epic Games, GameFly, Core Design (Tomb Raider), Wideload Games, Aspyr Media, WizKids, DreamCatcher, JoWooD, Cryo Interactive, Bunchball and others.
Prior to consulting, she was a Director II (Vice President) at Corporate Technology Communications (CTC, now part of Ketchum) in Chicago, where she managed a team of PR executives and oversaw CTC’s PR activities for Verio, Bell & Howell, InstallShield and Océ.
Before her brief stint in the Midwest, Susan was a Vice President for Technology Solutions, Inc. (TSI, now part of Golin Harris) in the Bay Area, during which time she opened their Digital Consumer Group/West, and built a strong team of PR executives. Her team obtained and managed both Internet and game entertainment clients.
Before joining TSI, Susan held the position of Director of Communications for Imagine Media (now Future) while simultaneously managing marketing and PR activities in the U.S for Cryo Interactive (a Paris, France, based company). She also worked at Switzer PR overseeing such clients as HarperCollins Interactive, Discovery Channel Interactive, InfoSeek and other businessto? consumer accounts. Susan started her career working for International Data Group (IDG) as an editor at PC World Magazine, moving on to become Managing Editor for GamePro Magazine. She also freelanced for Might Magazine, Dave Eggers’ magazine.
